2 men were found guilty on charges of Conspiring to Kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer

Barry Croft Jr. and Adam Fox were found guilty, by a jury of their peers, on charges of conspiring to Kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer, as well as charges conspiring to obtain a weapon of mass destruction. That charge came from the defendant's research into purchasing a bomb, which would have been used to blow up a bridge, in hopes to stop the police.

Croft worked as a trucker, who was from Bear, Deleware. He was convicted of another explosives charge as well.

They received a second trial after a jury was unable to come to a unanimous decision in their first. Two of their 'coconspirators' were acquitted, while two others pleaded guilty and had testified for the prosecution.

Ultimately the established government had gotten the verdicts they needed. Assistant U.S. Attorney General Nils Kessler told jurors during their trial "You can't just strap on an AR-15 and body armor and go snatch the governor,"

Kessler also claimed they were hoping to start a second American civil war. Saying "But that wasn't the defendants' ultimate goal, They wanted to set off a second American civil war, a second American Revolution, something that they call the boogaloo. And they wanted to do it for a long time before they settled on Gov. Whitmer."

The overwhelming take is the involvement of FBI informants that had infiltrated the group. Army Veteran Dan Chappel started the investigation by offering to become an FBI informant after he saw messages related to killing police officers. The FBI proceeded to add two more informants as well as two undercover agents who infiltrated the group.

Defense lawyers argued that the agents had been present at every event, causing the entrapment of the men found guilty. Their lawyers said the FBI isn't supposed to create 'Domestic Terrorists.'

Whitmer has blamed Trump for the kidnapping plot. Claiming he has stoked mistrust and fomented anger over coronavirus restrictions. She has also made the claim that he refuses to condemn hate groups and right-wing extremists, including the ones charged with the plot.

Trump recently said the kidnapping plan was a 'Fake Deal.'
