The second day of proceeding for potential justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has come and gone, and it's time for an update.
Expanding the number of justices from 9 was a question in the minds of many going into the second day of the hearing, the start of the questioning phase. Judge Jackson said her opinion matches that of the newest elected supreme court judge Amy Coney Barrett, saying: "In my view, judges should not be speaking to political issues and certainly not a nominee for a position on the Supreme Court,"
Judge Jackson also addressed a question on people’s belief that she has been lenient on child sex offenders. She claimed that the governors need to decide what they want out of the law, saying Congress chooses what they are supposed to do when sentencing.
When asked about defending clients at Guantanamo bay, she argued that public defenders do not get to choose the cases they receive.
