Kenosha County Has finished its jury selection for Kye Rittenhouse who faces 6 charges.
Rittenhouse faces
1st-degree intentional homicide- Connected to the death of Anthony Huber. Intentional homicide means a person killed someone and meant to do it, self defense trumps this charge
1st-degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon- Connected to the death of Joseph Rosenbaum, alleges someone had an utter disregard in their life through their death
1st degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon.- Connected to the Rosenbaum shooting, refers to a man named McGinnis being in the line of fire
Attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon- Connected to shooting Gaige GrossKruetz in the arm, who had come up to Kyle with a pistol.
1st degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon- connected to Kyle Firing 2 shots at a man who made a leap at him.
Possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18- Wisconsin law prohibits minors from possessing firearms except for hunting
Failure to comply with an emergency order from state or local government- Kenosha county imposed an 8 pm curfew for individuals on the night of the shooting.
The jury has been selected and it will feature 11 women and 9 men who will be cut down to 12 for the final verdict. Kenosha is 75% white and the jury pool featured mostly white individuals. Reporters have speculated it is a rather quick jury selection.
The sheer number of charges is telling of how crazy the situation Rittenhouse was thrust into. He had multiple people attacking him and at that moment it can be very difficult to stop when there are that many threats to your life around you.
