Memphis BLM founder who received a 6-year sentence for voter fraud, has all charges dismissed

Prosecutors have elected to no longer look to press charges for voter fraud in Memphis BLM Founder, Pamela Moses' second trial.

Pamela Moses was originally sentenced to 6 years and a day in federal prison for voting while being convicted felon years prior. In 2015, Moses pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and forgery (felonies), and to misdemeanor charges of perjury, stalking, theft under $500, and escape.

She and many others associated with BLM immediately complained about the verdict and sentencing which caused her to challenge her first trial. Prosecutors said in February that Moses' sentence was overturned and a new trial ordered because the Tennessee Department of Correction failed to turn over "a necessary document" in the case. She was granted a second trial. Prosecutors in the second trial have chosen not to pursue the charges further.

Moses has spent a total of 82 days in police custody, which Shelby county district attorney, Amy Weirich, said was sufficient. Moses claims she was not aware she could not vote and believed she was able to vote once her probation had finished.

She is now free to return as the leader and likely founder of the Memphis, Tennessee BLM chapter.
