UPENN swimmer who transitioned this year, claimed the fastest time in the 200 and 500 free events

Matt Thomas was a swimmer for the UPENN men's team for his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons at the school. He would then take a year off and become Lia Thomas, a swimmer in the NCAA woman's leagues.

She has taken woman's collegiate swim by storm claiming multiple 1st place finishes and just this past weekend set season and school records for woman swimmers in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. An enormous feat for a first-timer competing.

Thomas had this to say about his transition into the woman's side of the sport “Being trans has not affected my ability to do this sport, and being able to continue is very rewarding.”
